This holiday season, the corporate office of DelMonte Hotel Group was excited to host a sponsored wrapping event coordinated by Full Circle Home. This organization coordinates the assembly of holiday packages for deployed soldiers and their families. Sponsored wrapping events entail assembly-style wrapping: long tables and lining up boxes, filling them with gifts & paper shred, and adding their signature “faux bow” on top. 

Full Circle Home is a not-for-profit organization that connects deployed service members with their loved ones across the country and on bases around the world. Since 2007, Full Circle Home has helped over 21,000 troops send their holiday gifts and love notes to their Heroes at Home. The simple act of giving a gift with a hand written note can bridge the gap between ours troops and those who support them!

Though the organization is based out of upstate New York, wrapping events are held in Washington DC, Maryland, Massachusetts, Ohio, Rhode Island, Colorado, and other parts of New York State.

These gift packages allow troops to express their gratitude and recognize sacrifices made by those at home and are a daily reminder of the love of their service member and the appreciation of sponsors across the country. This connection provides encouragement and support for both those at home and those overseas, because the whole family is affected by a deployment.

DelMonte, Cobblestone get together for hotel project

When it came to their collection of properties, the DelMonte Hotel Group had always done things on their own.

They built their first full-service hotel, the Marriott Thruway, in 1973. Their next hotel, the Rochester Airport Marriott in Greece, came in 1978 and they still own and operate that property. Nearly four decades later, their most recent Monroe County hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Rochester University, opened near Strong Memorial Hospital.

Nothing really changed with that do-it-ourselves business approach until last year, when the DelMonte Group made growth more of a priority.

“We’re smartly growing our portfolio—we’re looking in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic,” said Alex DelMonte, president of the East Rochester-based firm. “But if we want to grow at a more rapid pace, we’ll have to bring in equity from outside investors.”

They found their first partner essentially in their East Rochester backyard. Cobblestone Capital Advisors, with headquarters in the Linden Oaks Office Park, believes the right hotel real estate investment can be a wise offering to its clients.

As a result, the AC Hotel Cleveland Beachwood was born. Construction crews broke ground in May 2017 and the Ohio hotel opened to guests two months ago.

Courtyard by Marriott opens waterfront hotel in Troy

Officials cut the ribbon during an opening ceremony Thursday at the Courtyard by Marriott hotel on River Street in Troy.

TROY, NY – Visitors to the Collar City will now have a new hotel they can stay in, with the opening of the Courtyard by Marriott waterfront hotel on River Street.

The five-story concrete masonry structure is prominently located between the city’s largest office complex and the Hoosick Street Bridge along 500 feet of the Hudson River.

Officials said the continued growth in the city’s tech and corporate office sectors, as well as lodging demands related to the city’s colleges, has fueled the need for additional rooms in the city and was a primary reason for the project.

The hotel, located at 515 River St., was developed by Kevin Bette, president of Latham-based First Columbia, which also owns the neighboring Hedley Building on River Street.

Bette said the 132-room hotel is being managed by DelMonte Hotel Group. The new hotel also brought 29 new jobs to the area.

AC Hotel opens at Pinecrest

Greater Cleveland’s newest hotel comes with a complimentary glass of cava and a view of Shake Shack.

The region’s first AC Hotel opened this week at Pinecrest, the new mixed-use development in Orange Village. The 145-room hotel is located on four floors of new construction, above high-end clothier Vineyard Vines and other ground-floor retail.

It’s the first AC for Northeast Ohio, part of the Marriott chain, with a contemporary, European flair.

The brand was founded in 1998 in Spain by Antonio Catalan (“AC”), who partnered with Marriott in 2011. Since then, the hotel chain has expanded quickly in the United States, with 54 hotels in 24 states. In Ohio, there are two in the Cincinnati area, and one outside of Columbus, in Dublin.
